i have often wondered what made people do the things they do. is it that they, in their hearts, truly believe it to be the right thing? is it that they believe in impulse and the emotionally charged responses? is it that they truly see a world upon themselves and lack empathy for anyone on the outside?
the more and more i try to understand what makes people tick the more and more i lose myself in trying to fathom the simple question...
why?
the truth is it doesnt' matter why people do the things they do. all that really matters is which ones impact your life. which ones you let impact your life.
i'm feeling... great. knowing that despite what happens on the outside i can still control my life and who will impact me.
i let a lot of people see the real me. this... my written word... is a window into the real me. it leaves me vulnerable at times, emotionally charged in others, and i end up giving up everything on a single hope for things that never come to pass.
should i start putting hope in smaller things? should i just live my life as best i can and be happy? stop chasing after a white whale?
it's become clear now... that white whale was a guppy.
the true feat will be not overcoming a past better left forgotten... or a present too ridiculous to warrant mention... but putting all effort into a future for a little girl who deserves a beautiful life.
and learning to laugh again along the way.
