my dad came across a unique program i had never heard of. it's called job corps. basically you live on their campus, learn a trade, and then they help place you into your chosen career field. the best part of it all is it's free. you live with a roommate or two (or up to seven lol), they take care of your food, and you get basic medical and dental (again all on campus).
the downside is you can't leave the campus during the week. but considering you're being taught for free... it's not all that bad. another downside is the nearest one is in moses lake. that puts me about two hours away from lily. i'm sure i can make the drive each weekend to see her but still...
anyways if ssi comes through it might be something worth looking into. if i was to do it i'd go the Columbia Basin Job Corps Center in Moses Lake. the profession i'd most want to learn is Pharmacy Tech. there's a lot to it i'd like and very few things i'd dislike. i've never had to really deal with customers (minus my time at ICT which was all over the phone) so that would be a new thing. i'd have to contact doctors and insurance providers and that's something i don't know a whole lot on. but it'd be worth learning and giving it all a shot.
anyway that's what i've been spending my day doing... researching that route. i just have to decide if i want to try being an author or if i should try this instead. i don't have all the time in the world on this as the cut off age is 24. still that gives me the summer to think long and hard if i want to join in the fall. we'll see!
